'good news, everyone!'

Barometric is now one of five artists taking part in (and being supported by) the Camden People's Theatre Starting Blocks artist development scheme! This means we've found a home for ESCAPE VELOCITY for three months, complete with skill-sharing workshops, rehearsal space, and a work-in-progress showing as part of SPRINT festival at the end of March 2011!

Also, we're throwing another one-off performance installation at Hunga Munga in which we're reclaiming the Christ from Christmas Grotto. It's this Sunday, so come on down to see us dressed as a forever warring couple, needing your help to tell the Greatest Story Ever Told. And we'll definitely be drunk.

Keep the faith, ground control x

new photos, a poster, and ongoing fortunes

thanks once more to getinthebackofthevan for another awesome night at the Roundhouse - what an audience! we've got a few photos from the ESCAPE VELOCITY dress rehearsal and photoshoot, check them out in the 'gallery' section.

in other news, forwardslashfortune is still getting some very cool reactions, and continues growing...though into what, we have no idea! so far it's been a bit of a trial by fire, but we love seeing new faces in our gypsy closet, so come on down to Theatre Souk, 3-4 Picton Place, Tuesday-Saturday until October 16th.

forwardslashfortune @ Theatre Souk

barometric will be performing their new piece for one audience member - forwardslashfortune - from the 15th of September to the 16th of October (Tues-Sat), at the Theatre Souk festival in Theatre Delicatessen's squat in Picton Place.
entrance on the door is £7, which gets you into the building and the main show, and then you decide what (out of 15 artists and rooms) you want to see. the prices are variable - some cost £5, some are based around haggling. forwardslashfortune will set you back ONE POUND COIN (or not, depending on your reaction).

come.

plans!

1. new distance-based work 'TBA' has been programmed for getinthebackofthevan's SHOW US YER GUERILLA BITS evening at the Young Vic Bar, August 10th (a week away!)

2. have your fortune told (for real) at Theatre SOUK from September 14th - October 11th, as that's where / when we will be performing our new piece for one audience member, forwardslashfortune (or forwardslashfuture - debate!)

3. ESCAPE VELOCITY (bye bye bye) will return to SHOW US YOUR BITS at the Roundhouse, though this time ground control will be much larger, and also based in the Studio. that's on September 22nd.

Sunday 27 June 2010

baby steps / giant leaps

barometric meet on monday to discuss future of ESCAPE VELOCITY (bye bye bye) and our project at september's THEATRESOUK on bond street.

items on the agenda include:
-- how to co-opt lance bass into our piece
-- the LIVING ROOM TOUR (you heard right...)
-- making a site-specific (?), accumulative (?), installation-based (?), one-on-one (?) show that lasts for 5 weeks

watch this SPACE (aha.)

bits shown

thanks to everyone who came out to see us at SHOW US YOUR BITS last night - we had a terrific night, and hopefully you did too!

your feedback on (and reaction to) ESCAPE VELOCITY (bye bye bye) has answered a lot of the questions we had about the piece, and opened up some interesting avenues for its development - invaluable at this stage in the process. so thanks for that as well.

it was an interesting night for us, in terms of the material we didn't get to - the mission was very light in tone compared to some we've rehearsed, as the exercises we weren't able to attempt were G-FORCE ACCLIMATIZATION, SELF-WORTH ASSESSMENT, and SPACE DEMENTIA PRECAUTIONS, and they are all comparatively high-risk, physically and emotionally. it'll be interesting to see what reaction another run throws up. we imagine it will be quite, quite different.

we'll still be working hard on the piece (obviously), so watch this SPACE for details of other scratches and work-in-progress showings, as well as details on our upcoming installation/performance/godknowswhat at THEATRE SOUK this september. we'd love to see you again, and maybe we'll get 6 out of 10.

thanks to getinthebackofthevan, the roundhouse, and alex from ground control,

barometric OUT.

p.s. HOLY SHIT WE MADE A WILL.
